Economic impact

Cajamar’s activity and the loans it grants to families and businesses generate 173,048 jobs and have an impact of 11,118 million euros in the Spanish economy in terms of revenue.

The credits and loans granted in 2023 by Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar to businesses and families, in addition to facilitating an increase in consumption and investment among applicants, generated 10,128 million euros in revenues for the Spanish economy and the equivalent of 160,541 full-time jobs. In addition to this figure, we must add the impact of the operating expenses generated by the Group’s own activity. This second pathway of impact on the economy is estimated at 990 million euros in revenues and 12,507 jobs, as set out in the Economic impact report of the Cajamar Cooperative Group(in Spanish) (PDF 8,84 MB.) 2023, report prepared by IVIE (Valencian Institute of Economic Research).

In total, the sum of these two impacts represents a contribution to the Spanish economy of 11,118 million euros in revenues made by Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar in 2023, 2.7% more than in the previous year. As for the impact on employment, Grupo Cajamar’s own activity and that produced by the credits and loans granted meant that 173,048 jobs could be maintained in 2023.

The report also analyses the increase in revenues for public coffers in the form of taxes and social security contributions, with figures showing a 7.1% increase in tax collection compared to the previous year.
